“…being the extra shoulder someone needs to cry on, or an extra ear they need to listen is such an AMAZING and REWARDING feeling.” – Madeline, SACVAP Volunteer

Meet Our Volunteers

The Sexual Assault and Crime Victims Assistance Program relies on volunteers to help provide services on the 24 hour crisis hotline. All volunteers receive the training necessary to help support survivors of crime and sexual assault. Upon completion of the training, volunteers become NYS Department of Health Certified Sexual Assault Counselors and take shifts on the 24 hour crisis hotline providing emotional support, information and referrals, active listening, crisis intervention, and medical and legal accompaniments.
